I absolutely love to write. It's always been one of my favourite past-times and and something I've always found solace in. I write poetry, I write short stories, I write spoken word scripts.. but sometimes other people just write things better than I do.
Enter the "Zwischen" article.
I usually send this article to the birthing people I work with as they near the end of their pregnancy as a, "I hear you that you're over being pregnant, and there's a word for it, and I hope you can find a little bit of beauty in the in-between".
I would never even try to re-write my own version of the article because the author was incredibly eloquent and poignant, and some things just can't be done.
So if you're nearing the end of your pregnancy take a peek at that article and see if it provides you with any comfort or peace, and if someone you love is nearing the end of their pregnancy then maybe pass it on to them and see what they think..
Wish them or yourself a, "Happy Zwischen"
Then as I did a bit more research, I found three more articles on people's experiences about Zwischen that I *really* liked and thought maybe y'all would like it too.
This article is a non-crunchy, easily-relatable story of one person's Zwischen period.
This article is a poetic, feeling-filled account of one person's dance with Zwischen (and I particularly droooooled over the first photo).
And this article is about a doula's Zwischen experience because we're in-between too, waiting eargerly and nervously for your call.
I definitely will write my own Zwischen doula post because it is such a special time for me too and I'd love to share some of my pre-birth rituals in the weeks, days and moments leading up to the birth (can anyone guess what I do at your doorstep before I knock??)
